One of the qualities of cattle is that it has the ability to save considerable amounts of energy as fat and vitamin in their bodies. However, the use of reserves of protein and minerals is limited, so it is necessary to provide supplementary food they need during times of extreme shortage of fodder.
The symptoms presented by the species during infectious and parasitic diseases are almost impossible to detect with a simple observation, so it is necessary to implement an appropriate program of prevention of health along with an improvement of complementary feeding.
The cattle will develop much faster if the diet includes a high concentration of protein, energy, minerals and vitamins in their daily ration.
When increasing the energy content and protein in the diet, either by improving the quality of forage or adding protein supplements and grain, the potential for increased consumption.
The requirement of protein, digestible energy and minerals is approximately the same for calves at weaning, the heifer pregnant and pregnant cow, but the ability to consume food is different, being the largest animal in the age bracket that can consume more. Therefore, the younger cattle with a limited ability to consume food, diets should be of higher quality, containing more protein and energy per pound of food.
