Trout

Trout’s popularity has increased in recent years in our country, due to its appealing flesh. However, besides the consumption of meat, sport fishing is an profitable activity for farmers, as it has been well received in the country, not only because tourists find it funny and relaxing, but because it is a guarantee of that the food will be fresh.

The trout is a semi-fatty fish, as it provides about 3 grams of fat per 100 grams of meat. It also contains high biological-value proteins, as well as vitamins and minerals. It is considered a very nutritious food, and when cooked with uncomplicated recipes, it can easily become a regular part of low-calorie and low- fat diets.

Their meat is an interesting contribution of potassium and phosphorus, and moderate in sodium, magnesium, iron and zinc, compared with other fresh fish. Potassium is a mineral needed for the nervous system and muscle activity and intervenes with sodium in the water balance inside and outside the cell.

Considering the amount of commercial variables that have an interest in these fish, trout farming can become a very profitable business, but for a trout farm to be successful, it is important that the animal is bred and maintained properly.
